The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the start of the next stage in its recruitment exercise with the Online Computer-Based Test (CBT) set to take place from September 14 to 21, 2025.
This was disclosed in a public notice released by NCS management on Thursday.
NCS said only candidates who passed the initial documentary screening have been invited to participate in this phase.
It then advised applicants to regularly check their registered email addresses and phone numbers for further instructions.
“Note that only applicants who successfully passed the initial doc-umentary scrutiny have been invited for this phase.” NCS said.
NCS also disclosed that candidates applying for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) positions will have to undergo an additional CBT following this stage.
It noted that the recruitment process is structured in phases, and only those who perform successfully in each stage will move on to the next round of screening.
Nigerian Customs Training Date 2025
On or before now, a recruitment exercise was conducted for all applicants after which a comprehensive list of shortlisted candidates was finally released which led to the next phase of the exercise called the screening.
Qualified candidates from the screening are now directed to prepare and report for a six-month training at their various camps across the 36 states.
The Nigerian Customs Service training activities shall be held across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This exercise shall be strictly conducted by the service following the Nigerian Customs Service codes of conduct.
As the training exercise kickstarts, successful candidates will be orientations on how to behave maintain maximum discipline, and adhere to all instructions during their stay at the Nigerian Customs Service training centers.
All applicants must make sure to appear at their designated training sites on the specified day, as posted on the Nigerian Customs Service website. Applicants will be eliminated from consideration if they show up one or two days ahead of the planned date.

Nigerian Customs Service Training Requirements
On the dates specified on the NCS official website, https://customs.gov.ng, all successful applicants are required to report to their training centers. Those who have been shortlisted must report to their training center with the following documents:
- All educational Qualifications and credentials are to be carried alongside in a file jacket.
- Scratch cards from WASSCE, NECO, or GCE
- One white short underwear for the male
- For (Female), one pair of brown underwear and a white vest
- A single pair of white canvas shoes
- Two photographs from a passport.
- Birth certificate or age declaration
- Hardcopy of the online submission form.
- Candidates who will report to the Nigerian Customs Service training center for 2024 must come along with a valid means of identification (For instance, a National ID card, Driver’s license, International Passport, or Voter’s card).

The Nigeria Customs Service has invited 286,697 applicants to sit a computer-based test for 3,927 advertised vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.
The recruitment exercise, which was formally advertised on December 27 2024, attracted 573,523 applications during its first phase.
“After a rigorous documentary scrutiny, 286,697 candidates were invited to proceed to the next phase,” the Service said in a statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada on Wednesday via its official X account.
“The second stage of the exercise, scheduled to take place from September 14th to 21st, 2025, will be conducted through an online Computer-Based Test (CBT).”
Maiwada said shortlisted candidates may take the test from any location with reliable internet access, but must use a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and full-screen display.
He added the platform is not mobile-phone enabled.
According to him, a facial-verification check will occur at login, and candidates are advised to present themselves neatly to avoid recognition issues.
NCS warned that the CBT application is sensitive to noise and body movement, and excessive movement, whispering or background distractions can trigger an automatic logout.
Customs advised candidates “to avoid switching between windows during the test, as such actions will be flagged as malpractice and may lead to disqualification.”
To help candidates familiarise themselves with the system, the Service will run a mandatory pre-test exercise two days before the actual CBT.
It explained that shortlisted applicants will receive two separate links (one for pre-test, one for the real exam).
“Candidates who applied for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) should note that they will be invited for an additional CBT in the next phase of the recruitment exercise.
“This provision does not apply to the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres,” the statement added.
NCS reiterated that the recruitment process is merit-driven.
It urged applicants to rely only on the Service’s official communication channels for updates.
